"Time is never wasted if it is given to others."

Al-Moutanabbi, Iraki poet (915-965)

Time, listening and an outstretched hand is sometimes all a person needs to resolve their difficulties. The Louvainplus project wishes to help Faculties and their students. The Listen project is an aid offered by emeritus and intended for master's students. It is above all a listening time that will be given to young people who cannot graduate because of the delay in their dissertation. It is also aimed at foreign students who are unfamiliar with the Louvain-la-Neuve campus. The Welcome project will establish a list of people who agree to sponsor a new or visiting academic when no academic of the Faculty is available. This means, for example, anticipating a first individual welcome with the Faculty administration, providing information on the organization of courses, exams and the supervision of dissertations, being available for an exchange on pedagogy, evaluation methods, etc. The Welcome project is not yet active on the Louvain-la-Neuve site.

The role of the mentor

In order to allow students in difficulty to receive the help they need, each of them is assigned a mentor. This mentor, either one or more emeritus of UCLouvain, will accompany the young person by granting him time to listen, comfort and, if possible, guidance. Louvainplus is a personalized solution where the mentor allows the student to take the necessary step back to resolve difficulties. In order to carry out his or her mission, the mentor will benefit from the support and environment of Louvainplus.

The values of Louvainplus

Passion

The transfer of knowledge and methodologies is one of the cornerstones of the project, supported by each of the mentors.

Altruism

Based on voluntary work, the Louvainplus project makes it a point of honor to grant the necessary time to each student in need.

Collaboration

Solutions are born and created in the moments of exchange and listening between the mentor and the student, and the Louvainplus project is built in the collaboration between emeritus and between emeritus and Faculties.
